How To Pack Pillows For Storage- Use Vacuum Storage Bags

Pillows can easily become a cluttered mess when not in use, especially if you have a lot of them. Pack your pillows in a pillowcase.

If you are taking them on vacation, pack them in a storage bag to avoid getting dust and allergens on them.

Wipe the dust off with a damp cloth, and hang them to dry. Follow these tips to pack your pillows for storage:

  • Separate the pillowcases from the body pillows. This will make it easier to store each type separately.
  • Group similar types of pillows together- such as all soft cushions or all memory foam ones- and put them in one bag. Then store them in a large storage bin to ensure the feathers don’t become soiled easily.
  • Pack only the most frequently used pillows into pillows cases, and put them near your bed at night since you will be sleeping with them every day!
  • They are easy enough to clean- just throw in some bleach or disinfectant when dusting if needed!
  • Roll pillowcases up as tight as possible before packing for storage.
  • Unwanted pillows can be donated to your local charity, or given away to a friend who could use them.

How To Pack Pillows For Shipping- 12 Steps

To pack your pillows for shipping, follow these steps:

  1. Remove the pillow from its case and put it in a clear plastic bag. If there is a dustcover, remove that too.
  2. Measure each puff of the pillow- including the height and width- and write this information down on an invoice or packing list as you go along. This will help with tracking your shipment when it arrives at its destination.
  3. Roll the pillow into tubes to spread out its bulk (a straw hat is a perfect tool for this). Place these several inches apart, and pack them together tightly with cardboard if necessary. Pack multiple pillows from each kind in one tube so that they don’t crush too easily during shipping. Provided you have enough room!
  4. Now wrap your stuffing around the body of the pillow- folding it up and rolling it carefully so that the feathers don’t get crushed.
  5. Pack multiple pillows from each kind in separate tubes- again, try to keep their sizes similar so they will wrap around them easily during shipping. It’s OK if some of these burst open while being packed into an envelope!
  6. If you have enough extra space inside the bag and in your storage tubs or boxes, gently add a few more of that type of pillow inside where they are in more contact with the air around them. This helps maintain their shape and keeps pillows from flattening too much during shipping. For example, if you have a floral throw pillow snuggled next to a botanical pillow that is not as stuffed or heavily filled, this creates what we call “air pockets” which will preserve the shape of these two differently sized items (and help keep rainwater out!)
  7. Write down the quantity on your invoice or packing list, and pack these together in a similarly sized envelope.
  8. Pack your entire extra inventory at once inside only as many envelopes as you use to ship each item- just enough so that it doesn’t make too much noise during shipping! I’ve also seen simple foam peanuts used here for cushioning without having to fully enclose every pillow with bubble wrap… but there is some risk involved with this method!
  9. Label the box carefully with your inventory number and any other labelling that you’d like. I just cover them with a piece of tape so they aren’t damaged at all during shipment!
  10. Pack as many children’s pillows inside as possible, again cushioning some of these tubes in tissue paper or balled up plastic bags to help keep against accidental crushing. Some may be crushed if too heavy, too stuffed or just too stiff to fold neatly.
  11. For easy access, while at the post office, use a larger envelope as opposed to an enveloping tube- this is key so you can quickly find your box when it arrives (during busy times at the mailbox!)
  12. Pack each item in its own smaller package Later on, do an inventory check for any of those items that may have not made it through shipment!

How To Pack Pillows For Travel-Different Packing Materials

The best way to pack pillows for travel is by placing them in a pillowcase.

Make sure it’s clean, and put each one in its spot so you can rearrange it onto the bed at your destination without getting dust everywhere.

Pack your pillows in a pillowcase.

How To Wrap Dinner Plates For Moving

  1. First, you will want to find your own space for each dish or bowl within the boxes. If possible, use at least three plates of equal size so there won’t be any issues during shipping.
  2. Put the dishes into a laundry basket and weigh them down with heavy books being stacked on top of it- this trick has worked well in my experience!
  3. Next cover all tableware/entrusted linens that are to remain intact with a non-toxic foam sheet or plastic overwrap. You can also wrap these items individually for your security and protection of course.
  4. Next, you may wish to hardpack boxes; this is a great way to keep the dishes/bowls from shifting around during shipment as well as preventing denting, nicks, scratches etc. Everything must remain on its shelf if possible!
  5. A piece of masking tape can be used to secure the wrappings where necessary and it is also helpful because the tape that comes with foam sheet etc., is at least a little bit sticky, then you will wrap everything in “the container” using more protective packing material.
  6. For really special china or glassware- even if they are not breakable you might want to wrap them up as well; this includes high dollar jewellery boxes & purses if they are to remain intact during shipment.
  7. Remember, It’s Fun When it’s Done!  You want to savour the moment because there is nothing better than a package that you know will be taken care of beautifully no matter what happens. Don’t wait until the last second and under pressure- but when it comes up just do it right & professionally done so everything can move with your stuff securely!

The Best Way Best Way To Pack Pillows And Blankets For Moving

fancy pillow storage

There are a few things that you will need to pack your pillows and blankets for moving.

First, you will need some boxes or bags in which to store the items.

Secondly, you will need some packing materials, such as bubble wrap or newspaper.

Finally, you will need a pillow shipper or rolling cart to transport the items.

Pack Your Pillows And Blankets In Boxes

When packing your pillows and blankets, it is best to place them in boxes.

This will help keep the items organized and will make moving them easier.

To pack a pillow or blanket into a box, you need to follow these steps:

  • First, locate the corresponding size box at your local store. Remember that larger pillows and blankets should be placed in bigger boxes while smaller pillows and blankets can fit perfectly into smaller boxes.
  • Second, remove the existing padding from the pillows and blankets by sliding your fingers under the edges of the pillow.
  • Third, remove as much padding from a blanket or throw pillow (if there is any) until you have reached bare-skin levels. You do not need to rip off all of the stuffing; only open each corner up to properly pack it into its box container. Now fold it over itself once again before inserting it into the next size box that you had purchased from the store.
  • Fourth, place any extra padding (if there is any) into your garbage can or recycle bin and inspect for any tears or holes that may have developed during packing. If there are tears, rip them open yourself with a pair of scissors before stuffing them back inside the blanket or pillow box.
  • Finally, label each box with the name of the pillow or blanket and its corresponding size.
  • If you are moving in a group, it is also a good idea to label the boxes with names so that your friends can easily identify each item.

Wrap Your Packages Up In Newspaper And Bubble Wrap

Once you have finished packing up all of your items, you will now want to wrap them in newspaper and then seal the box with bubble wrap or movers tape until they are completely packed.

When wrapping each package separately, make sure that both ends of the paper overlap by an inch or so.

This will ensure that no air can enter the packed pillows, blankets and furniture items while they are moving to their new address.

You may wrap each item separately as many times as needed without worrying about it getting too squished up from a single layer of paper.

Doing this also helps prevent torn wrapping paper from accumulating inside boxes during transit, which again leads to more labour for your movers!

After you have wrapped each item, simply stack them on top of each other and place one more layer of paper over all the stacks.

Finally, close up the boxes with tape or fit wood slats into similarly sized spaces between items that are stacked together; a carpet runner can also work well for this purpose if you have some available.

Conclusion

Moving can be a lot of work, but with the right preparation, it can be an incredibly smooth process.

Moving is a huge job that requires meticulous planning and preparation.

From packing your furniture and appliances to packing your clothes and linens to loading up your car with all of your worldly possessions, there’s a lot to take into account.

One of the most important aspects of packing is properly packing your pillows.

Whether you’re moving in a short distance or long distance, the right way to pack your pillows for shipping is essential for a smooth move.

By following our tips, you’ll be able to minimize the stress of packing and moving in no time!
